Q: Where can I get support?

A: If you're really new to websites and the internet, review this page first. Then head on to the information in the support forum and know that support is available.

Manifest Witness has an extensive online support forum. There is also an online system to get help. Before you call, try the FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions), and the the other online resources. The answer may already be there for you and it's quick. If you still feel you need to call for help, there is a number to call. To keep costs low, there is no toll-free number and it may be long distance for you (unless you have a plan that includes long distance like many cellphone plans). The number is 480-624-2500. Manifest Witness has support staff available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

 Domain Names

Q: What exactly is a domain name and why do I need one?

A: A domain name is necessary for email addresses and website addresses. If you want to use either, you'll need one. It will be the first thing you need. A domain name is usually a .com or a .net or a .org name. Most non-profit or religious organizations use a .org name. There are other domains used for the military, .mil, countries like Germany, .de, or Australia, .au; educational institutions of higher learning, .edu, and many others. You can look for an available name like "mychurchname.org" in our storefront on our site here at Manifest Witness. If it is available, you can rent it for a period of 1 to 10 years at no more than ten dollars a year. Some places charge $29 or more for the same exact thing! The internet regulatory bodies do not allow anyone to own a name. With our optional  automatic renewal, you won't need to worry about losing your name and your price is protected.

 Website Hosting

Q: What is 'website hosting'?

A: A website is created out of files, usually many files. They contain the text, the graphics, and formatting information of a website. When you surf the web, you use a program called an internet browser. Most people use Internet Explorer from Microsoft - the "e" icon on your PC. Hosting refers to the place these files reside so that the browser program can read them and present them to you as a website. If you create a website, you'll need a place to host your files. Manifest Witness provides affordable and dependable website hosting options to meet all your needs.

 Website Creation

Q: How do you create a website?

A: The easiest way to create a website is to use a Website Tonight account. All creation of files and selection of choices is done over the internet while logged into the Manifest Witness site. You follow the steps, which guide you to type in your text, optionally load graphics, and make it available to the public. If you are more advanced, you could use a website authoring program, upload it to your hosting area with an ftp program and you're all set. Website Tonight accounts make it easy to start and look good doing it.

If you don't know how to create your own site and would prefer to be guided through an easier process online, then select 'Create a Website' or the logo to the left. If you know how to create a website and will be able to use an ftp program to load your files to your account and would prefer to do that, then select 'Web Hosting' above.

 Email

Q: Why do I need email from Manifest Witness?

A: You may have an email address already. All domain names purchased at Manifest Witness come with email forwarding accounts. That means, if you still only want to use one personal email address at home, you can. You can create another one like yourname@yournewdomainname.com and forward it to your old address which might be yourname@aol.com. Then you could use one for the purpose you just bought the domain name for and one for your personal business - and all of the mail will automatically go to your personal account - everything you used to get and everything forwarded on from your new email address. Simple. There are lots of creative things to do with forwarding or regular email addresses. If you are a school, you could, for example, have one email address for the whole faculty. It could forward to each individual address while only being sent to one! Great for any group!
